I am looking for a network solution that will significantly help us to conserve energy. I am especially interested in a technology that could wake up a machine for sanctioned activities; such as remote access, anti-malware scanning, online backups, BlackBerry redirector, etc. We have just installed VIPRE Enterprise, which I believe has the option to wake up a machine for anti-malware scanning. However, we cannot utilize that function because a number of our users regularly access their desktop remotely via Remote Web Workplace, which requires their workstations to be powered on (and not in system standby or hibernation). I understand there may be a Citrix solution that can do this, but I’m not sure what it’s called. Also, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 has been recommended to me, but I’m not sure that we need it or how it works to conserve energy. What does Entre recommend?
