A growing number of enterprises are discovering the benefits of replacing leased T1/E1 lines with Motorola fixed wireless broadband solutions.

Advantages can be substantial. Many organizations that rely on T1/E1 leased lines for high-speed connectivity are disenchanted with paying expensive lease charges every month. As bandwidth requirements continue to grow, many enterprises are seeing their monthly costs rise as their leased …lines proliferate.

T3 lines can provide bigger network pipes, but they also have limitations on how high they can scale before additional circuits are required. While these high recurring costs are one major problem with leased lines, they’re not the only issue.

Join us Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Entré Computer Solutions to learn more about this solution. This event is free, but registration is required.

Please email seminars@entrerock.com to register

Recently Microsoft announced some information about the upcoming version of their popular collaboration software, SharePoint 2010 (MOSS 2010). It’s definitely exciting to see what is in store for the next version of SharePoint. One thing that is going to need major consideration is system planning. One piece of information that Microsoft has divulged is the system requirements which are a major increase since the last version.
Here’s what we know so far…

SharePoint Server 2010 will require 64-bit Windows Server 2008 or 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2.

SharePoint Server 2010 will require 64-bit SQL Server 2008 or 64-bit SQL Server 2005.

Yes, that’s right. There will be no 32 bit support in SharePoint 2010. Why? Microsoft firmly backs 64-bit due to its expandability and performance increases. If you are running SharePoint 2007, then you know what they mean. A lot of this requirement was based on real world experiences from MOSS 2007 customers. It should be noted that according to Microsoft, 64 bit is a best practice recommendation for MOSS 2007.

What can I do to get ready?

1. The major thing you can do is make sure your server hardware is 64-bit compatible. Be sure to check this when ordering new hardware as well.

2. Upgrade any users who are still using Internet Explorer 6. There will be much limited support for IE 6 users. MOSS 2010 will have improved support for Firefox 3.x and Safari 3.x.

3. Run the system upgrade checker to see any potential issues.

4. Stay up to date on any new details. We expect MOSS 2010 to be released this year, but right now have limited details as to when. The official blog contains the most updated information.
